Timeshares on the secondary market
Many actively purchase timeshares on eBay and Craigslist. Doing so enables buyers to get any timeshare they like, any week they desire for as much as 90% less than what the resort offers them at.
Prior to purchasing any timeshare be sure to do your due diligence. You should always do your research before making a major purchase of any kind – be sure you know all about the resort, the maintenance fees, whether you can rent, trade, sell, etc, the usage….research everything.
To list a Timeshares on eBay a seller must first be verified by eBay as actually owning the property – which means they must, for example, send a copy of the deed or other ownership papers to eBay. Be careful though, not all eBay sellers will list under the Timeshare category, so be a careful buyer.

It probably goes without saying that you should also review the seller’s feedback rating and read the comments. Calling a seller prior to the transaction can add an additional layer of security. Be sure to google a seller’s name as well. Forums such as TugBBS provide list of known scammers and problem sellers.
Don’t forget to note that most eBay sellers inflate the price with exorbitant closing costs, so most sales will generally have $500 in additional fees. Timeshare companies may charge additional fees as well, though most listing should indicate such, if any exist.
Once you feel confident, bid on it. Try to be as safe as you can be, as scams do exist. Using common sense should protect you from most scammers however.
